Wednesday 30th July 2008

Hope everything has been going well with all you guys out there. You may or may not have heard but unfortunately our absolutely amazing, brilliant drummer Alexandra has injured herself. With advice and help from the doctors she should be back with us at the start of January 2009. Between now and then we will still of course be gigging, a big thank you to our stand in drummers Pete, Jeo and Natasha who have done many practises and performances with us so far. It’s been a nightmare trying to get all our songs up to gigging standard with different faces to the band but a lot of hard work has been going on in The Almaboobies HQ to make sure we carry on! We played Americana, Derby Beer Festival and a few other crackin’ shows in the last few weeks, my goodness…what fantastic gigs. Soooo many people supporting us and making new fans which is tremendous. Sold out of merchandise at Americana, YIPPY!!! Can’t believe the amount of awesome feed back we have had, thank you for all those beautiful e-mails. We have just recently had a big practise with Motorkill for our ‘Motor Headgirl School’ tour which will be coming up next year. We have a taster for you on Saturday 13th September at the Bourne Corn Exchange, Bourne, Lincs. Also, thank you to Nik Alexander for your clever work in photography on our tour photos. There is lots of talk on overseas tours, hopefully next year we will be rockin’ in Europe!!! Check this out people’s, we are now proudly sponsored by Warfedale. We are trialling a new range of speaker not yet released in the UK, so you must come and check out these beauties at our shows. Also, we are now in partnership with Powershift Fire & Rescue. We have a big family event happening in Horncastle at Old Nicks for the ‘Fire Engine Day’ on Sunday 17th August. That’s about it for now. Apologies haven’t written a diary entry sooner, it’s been a bit tough with Alexandra’s news but we will not give in…that’s ROCK N’ ROLL!!!! x

Wednesday 23rd April 2008

Hello all you crazy rockers and moshers!!! Hope this year so far has been a good one. We have been flat again, so far 24 gigs this year, rocking is the way to live!!! Many more gigs lined up with many more fantastic nights and much more drinking…water!!! ROCK ON!!! Just come back off holiday, now back to knuckling down and giving it our all. Have many things, ideas and events in the pipeline, nerve-racking and exciting! We are now fully proudly sponsored by Bikers Paradise leather clothing company as of the beginning of 2008. Absolutely wonderful leathers, highly recommend these guys, very professional and fair. For all your leather needs please go to www.bikersparadise.co.uk. They are based in Coventry. So now, on stage, us boobie girls have tight leather trousers and posh fitting waistcoats. BRILLIANT!!! On stage we now have a 12 by 6 foot banner and some cutie little monitor drapes, looks quite cool. Within the next few weeks we shall be starting on our new CD. Haven’t made an album yet, just EP’s, so thought we would go crazy and make a mega rockin’ flippin’ mental ALBUM!!!!...bring it on!!! Lots of work so will be a while before the final product is complete. Written a load of new material as well, wrote two songs in a week, they just seemed to flow out of us. ‘Inside’ and ‘35 Stone Ego’, Inside is a very sort of grabbing power with your emotions and 35 Stone Ego is a bit of fun, a modern punk feel to it. You’ll have to come check them out. We are in the process of sorting out a tour with Motorkill (Motorhead tribute band) thanks to our trusty agent Mick Moonshine who went full time with at the start of this year. Looking to plan it for the end of this year, bring back the Girlschool and Motorhead tour!!!! Can’t wait for that baby! We are playing all over England. Down in West Sussex and Isle Of Wight next weekend, really looking forward to that, prepare yourselves peoples!!! The boobies are coming to your town!!! We have been booked for quite a few festivals this year, check out our events page. Last year in total played 110 shows and this year is looking like another fully booked year, the way it should be. One of the highlights this year so far for me was playing with the outrageous phenomenal ‘Badaxe’, if you haven’t heard of these guys or seen them play then you should feel ashamed of yourselves!!!...seriously go check them out, you won’t be disappointed, WARNING: you must have a sense of humour!!! Our sound engineer Matt Chapman is just AWESOME, thank you. Well that’s about it for now, everyone take care but don’t forget to enjoy yourselves too! x

Hello to one and all! Well lots of news to tell…on 4th August we played with Po Boys at Brands Hatch World Superbikes, that was an amazing experience, thousands of people and the stage was gigantic! We have played at this years Wicked Wild Weekend for the Brotherhood and also this years Wozwolf. We were asked to play with Po Boys at the Irish Centre in Leeds 22nd September, awesome venue and atmosphere. We have a return visit thanks to the Po Boys on 15th December. New song, Feline Assassin, sort of a Jessica Rabbit feel mixed with jazz, scar and Almaboobieness! We have now played our first working mans club which was in Sheffield at the Foundry Workers. A little different to the usual pub and club scene but all performances and experiences are worth it. It is the first we have had Bingo in the intervals instead of rock music! Travelled to the South of England for the 26th and 27th October to play in Bracknell and Maidenhead. The audiences were fabulous, already revved up before the first note was struck. Can’t wait to go back. Special thank you to Matt-Ira Chapman and Becky Smith for coming down to support and share the experience. Finally all complete since 1st November, Matt-Ira Chapman has re-recorded, mixed and mastered our new CD Welcome. It is back out, bigger and better than ever!!!! Last Friday had our first live experience on BBC Radio Lincolnshire. Played 4 songs with a mini interview. Coming up, Christmas time will be busy and better than ever with all the fabulous nights to come as we are seeing the New Year in Grimsby (Yardbirds). Keep watching this space for the next diary entry. Finally our thoughts and sympathies go out to Matt and family for the loss of their beloved Becky and our friend who died on the morning of Tuesday 13th November 2007 in a tragic motorcycle accident. Such a beautiful person who will never be forgotten and shall live on forever in our hearts, memory and spirit. Thank you Becky for your love and friendship, R.I.P. You will always be missed.

ROCK & BLUES
Unbelievable, you got to hear this everyone…DO NOT MOVE! Rock & Blues was insanely insane and just AMAZING!!!!!! We rocked up to Ripley in Pentrich, Derby on Saturday morning after getting up at 5.45am, errrrr! We found the Rock & Blues; we knew this because the cars were chocker block for miles in the middle of the country side!! We made our way down to the Cross Piston Saloon ‘Beer Tent’, but however, we had gone and found ourselves stuck in the squelchy mud which we then had to be towed out of, apparently not rock and roll, but of course a top start to our day! Finally parked up back stage of the Cross Piston Saloon and jumped out to say hi folks. Everyone was so lovely and it felt so incredibly cool to be apart of a day which involved so many well respected, kind and pleasant people. The sound check was soon to take place so unloaded our equipment on the BIG stage, so strange to have help setting up, that’s not happened before, the stage crew were amazing. On stage waiting for orders, some people in the crowd shouting ‘get your tits out’, my goodness they were so original, I hope they felt better after their little joke. Sound check complete and with lots of people smiling, the crowd soon gathered together in time for our performance. So there we were just standing there at the side of the stage waiting for our nod for show time in 20 minutes, just enough time to get even more nervous, scared and extremely excited in the wait. BOOOOOOOOOOOM ROCK AND ROLL THE ALMABOOBIES HIT THE STAGE AND LIGHTS!!!!!! With myself and my new battery pack I was totally in my element and once wound myself up to my max I let myself and my bass fly, running behind the drums and revving up the monitor guy who was trying so hard to blend in with the side of the stage. Alexandra the animal on the drums, solo time, she had the crowd by storm, apparently people even stopped ordering their beer from the bar just to watch, the last beat of her solo finished with everyone cheering, couldn’t hear anyone separately, just one big roar, insane, my little cutie sister! Victoria foot stomping and lead breaking perfect, she actually managed to make it to the centre of the stage to head bang lots of hair with me! Not forgetting myself on that microphone talking to the audience getting my words jumbled, I get too excited to talk so when I do it just comes out like blur blur yeah! During our rockin’ performance, we stopped to let you all know of our Fearless Casual wear, modeling at the front of the stage with chests and arses out!!!! Finally we told the crowd it was our last song and they all groaned!!!!!...how cool…only to find out that we had 10 minutes left so we finished our show in true solid rock style which encouraged our 30 deep audience to dance even more!!! The sound was beyond mint!!!! Off stage were our kind crew Anthony and Felix, presenting us with a pile of CD’s to sign, never ending, such a monumental feeling. We even got to meet Dawn from Uniting The Elements and Motorkill. I got to chat with GD again, he is such an awesome person, you must look out for his review! Then once we went crazy with our flyers swimming through the hyped up audience bumping into a few we knew and lots we didn’t, I met the sound guy and he kindly lent me his pen and then found the incredible Mick Moonshine DJ-ing. It was time to chill out in our van back stage which felt so great for a few minutes to let sink in all that we had just experienced, the feeling was phenomenal. Of course us, like usual, didn’t realize that the unbelievable Led Zeppelin tribute band ‘A Whole Lotta Led’ were parked in front of us and chatting away amongst themselves. Their guitarist Nick came up to our van and opened the door to introduce himself. They were due to play in the next hour. Spectacular performance! As the day went on we thought it would be nice to get a look at all the stalls, shopping!! Alexandra bought some badges which was very unpredictable! I bought a girlie whirly dress, very pretty, also very unpredictable and Victoria bought a leather waistcoat, and had a patch sewed on the rear which says ‘3 can keep a secret if 2 are dead’ which is charming!! Back at the van, legs tired and head aching from the sun. The dudes from A Whole Lotta Led were chilling so we joined them. Although I was too hyper from a sugar overload of too many cans of soft drink, so consequently I didn’t have an off button and they couldn’t believe that it was natural!!! Their singer told me I was a lovely person and so I got very shy and in reply said, ‘Thanks, I like your jumper!’…douh, typical Lizzie! It was time to make our way to the main stage to check out Scorpions. We approached the security who were so ace, friendly and couldn’t stop smiling. But however…I made the mistake of carrying a Celebrations tin in my arms, they wouldn’t let me past until they had one, I told them that there was Guinness cake inside so they said I was spot on and let me continue on my journey!!! Our close friends from our parents’ pub Old Nicks Tavern had very kindly made the cake for our journey that day. Now in front of main stage, here we met an awesome lady named Donna who wanted to have a kip on our carpet and share our covers that we had laid on the grass, another groovy neighbour who had a blow up couch, and another who was a little girly in a pink coat catching bubbles all around! Unfortunately the rain came so we had to scatter, say our goodbyes and retrieve our van, the mud had dried up during the day as the sun had come out to play, but now of course it was back to slush, bloody rain gone and got us stuck in the mud again. Now free from slush and on our way home, all exhausted from a full on, enthusiastic, manic and thrilling day…so much more had happened but we’d better finish it there otherwise you’ll be getting a numb bum soon just like myself!!! Elizabeth now leaving her rock and roll write up but I am still rocking rolling even now from the Rock & Blues…far too much energy!!! Too excited…looking forward to meeting and supporting the Po Boys this coming Saturday at Brands Hatch World Superbikes. Ahhh!!!

OUR NEW CD WELCOME
Unfortunately with our new CD, there has been a balls up with the mixing and production so we have had to re-record it all again. Watch out for both website updates and our myspace bulletins. If any body is interested in purchasing one as soon as they are ready, then please advise us of your address details and we shall send one your way when completed. For those that have already purchased one, we will be more than happy to replace it.

Saturday 7th July 2007

At last our new CD Welcome is out. We are going to start putting the finishing touches to our live original CD. We have had some amazing shows like Americana at the Newark Showground and Old Nicks Tavern for the Wish Upon A Star Charity event. We are now looking forward to Rock N Blues where we will be sharing the day with 'Scorpions', we will also be at Brands Hatch World Superbikes where we shall be supporting the 'Po Boys'. We have made a new song called ‘Superhero’ and have played it out a few times already. Alexandra now has her new drum skin and with our new t-shirts we look like a proper rock and roll band! Check out ‘It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll’ Derby/Notts pub guide…Mick Moonshine has given us an awesome write up. It’s now full on for the summer gigs. Stay tuned!

Friday 8th June 2007

Blimey, so much to tell you all, where do we begin…we are now chocker block with shows until next year thanks to Victoria who has been working endless hours. Our shows have been improving all the time…have played in Felixstowe, Ipswich, Castleford and also played in Lancashire and Greater Manchester, had an outstanding show at the Sitwell Tavern in Derby 25th May too…now we are preparing for the Rock N Blues, flyers being printed and our new CD ‘Welcome’ went to the printers on Tuesday so should be within a month ready to be launched at the show. So much unbelievable stuff has happened. We are now proud to be associated with ‘Fearless Casuals’ casual wear, will be wearing their tops at our shows so look out for that, they are very classy! We have had some new t-shirts and tops printed up with our Beautiful Angel logo from the front of our CD, they look stunning! We have also made our very own music video for ‘Postcard’ which is the featuring track on our very new CD ‘Welcome’. With the help of our parents, friends including Desert Smile we have put together something quite special, just waiting for the editing. Looking forward very much to the end product. We are in the process of creating The Almaboobies very own personalized bass drum skin, will have The Almaboobies picture logo and word logo. Very exciting stuff! Elizabeth signing off.

Monday 26th March 2007

Back on the diary page, we have lots to tell you! The Almaboobies have a main support slot for Americana. Have also been given a fantastic slot on the Rock N' Blues and we will be on the same bill as Scorpions which is an absolute honor. Some amazing gigs just recently. Have been recording live with Matt from Scorpion Studios in Lincoln and have recorded 4 live covers ready for our promo pack to show that we can do it! Also on the way we have half a dozen live originals which just have to be mixed down and then ready go for a LIVE CD. We have not yet finished our new CD, but it is scheduled in, so should hopefully be complete within the next few months. The Almaboobies have been putting a tremendous amount of hard work in and slowly but surely things are starting to roll. Until next time...ROCK ON!!!

Thursday 22nd February 2007

As we venture into the unknown, new doors open that you never thought were possible before. Since our last posting Victoria has been busy booking us all over the place, not just the Midlands but now further afield. Along with some amazing people that we have met, these last few weeks have been exciting. Our 'Beauty And The Beast' tour has been fabulous fun and culminates in our gig at Old Nicks in Horncastle on Saturday, which will be a sell out. Desert Smile have become truely wonderful friends now and it's hard to think that we only met them six months ago at the Old Nicks Big Arvo! We have been so busy that we have had no time to finish our new recording, but have managed to put togther three new songs. They are Loaded Gun, Metrosexual and Sunshine Empire which we are already playing out. You must check out our site for the great gigs we have been booked for. We are also finalising several other fabulous gigs. We are all now putting our talents towards private lessons as well, which is proving very rewarding. The spring and summer looks like being a busy and exciting time too. Hope you all have fun and look forward to seeing you at one of our gigs.

Monday 22nd January 2007

We have survived Christmas and the New Year, we have now made the big step to go full time this year. There is no way of knowing how it will go but we intend to give it our best shot. We have completed the recording for our new CD so now we are in the process of waiting for the final mix and putting it all together ready for spring for the final release, this will include several knew songs that we have recently written. Shortly we will be doing a series of gigs with our good friends 'Desert Smile', it will be called 'BEAUTY AND THE BEAST' and we are very much looking forward to it. That is in conjunction with a full line up of gigs all over the Midlands. We have now got some lighting which looks well groovy and now sets the atmosphere for our stage performance. We would like to thank all the people that have supported us at our gigs, myspace, our website and at the pub. The list of supporters grows all the time and we really appreciate it.

Saturday 21st October 2006

These last few weeks have seen us complete our 'EVERY FATHERS NIGHTMARE - girls on tour' with Firebrand, Gundogs and The Magdalenes. It was great fun but we were completely stuffed at the end of it. We have also learnt a few do's and dont's on the way. Last weekend in Nuneaton at the Kingswood Tavern (great venue), our PA blew up and is in the repair shop. Still doing plenty of gigs and are also starting to put together our next CD. The bad news this month is the local council have crapped from a great hight on our mum and dads pub with the help of some spiteful locals. Its questionable whether there will be anymore regular live music in the future. Good old Horncastle!...check out our new song 'Postcard'. In the pipe line are several more tours and by the New Year we hope to be gigging on a pretty regular and professional basis. Look out for all our gig dates! With any luck by the next entry we will have sorted all the gremlines on our site!!!!
Tuesday 19th September 2006 Our New CD 'Beautiful Angel' is now avaliable, we are working hard to find outlets but at present its just from our parents pub and when we are gigging. We also have plenty of merch avaliable now. Our next task is to select songs for another CD which we hope to start recording in late October. Our gig list is pretty full and we are about to do a full weeks tour with other girl bands in the East Midlands area. The only bad news at the moment is our parents pub has been dobbed in for noise polution...there's some sad people out there! At our last gig we had big showing of supporters all rockin' with their new t-shirts on, it looked totally wicked. Our next aim is to start gigging further a field...so, UK look out! Also, many thanks to the messages of support we have had from our supporters both here and in Australia...it means alot!!! Cheers.
Sunday 2nd July 2006 We are now only weeks away from having our new CD ready for public consumption. It has been on the juke box at Old Nicks Tavern in Horncastle and has been received very well indeed. Once the cover design has been finsihed off, it goes for pressing. We have been steadily gigging and from August we hope to be increasing the number of gigs we do. Hopefully venturing to the far corners of the UK to give everybody a piece of The Almaboobies magic. Recently, care of 'Rumblebass' we have new pictures which will be on our site shortly. Our hard earnt money has now been invested in a new Wharfedale PA system, it's nice, big and just right for our rally gigs. Stay tunned!
Sunday 7th May 2006 This last month has seen some pretty special gigs. Started with Shooters in Spalding followed by a very private party for some very special people then Turpins in Long Sutton, the IQ in Boston and a fabulous night at Old Nicks celebrating our dads 50th. Rounded the month off by supporting the Anti Know Where League at the Farm and then an awesome crowd at the Jugsters Rally. We have also received the first mix of our new CD which is likely to be called 'Beautiful Angel' after our dear friend Donna. Our specail friend Alan of House of Chords fame has tagged up with us here in the UK and is exciting audiences with a few numbers at each of our gigs. Bookings are coming in fast and shortly we will have our new CD to promote at the gigs. Stay in touch and look out for us as we spread our wings further a field. We have also been accepted into the Battle of Britain Battle of the Bands. Just 30 entrants from many hundreds from all over the UK. We feel very privalidged. Keep Rockin'!
Sunday 26th February 2006 The tour van has now been fully christened! It was used the first time at the Nags Head, Bardney. Has been used ever since, fantastic to have such space and comfort. Had a good run of gigs lately and have played with some awesome bands. The Authentics are from Leicester and proved to be a pretty tidy outfit. We shared the staged with them at Lincoln Uni, then the following evening at the Lincoln Imp in Scunthorpe we had the honour of supporting the Frey Gang. These guys were amazing, doing a short UK tour from Germany. Our gig at Bardney this Friday has been pulled because of noise pollution. Some old fart had their hearing aid turned up too loud!!! Let's hope they can sort the problem out and still have live music. Please don't let another venue die. This week we are heading off to Doncaster to sort out the details for our new CD. How long it takes, we don't know but it is at least now on the move. Our next gig apart from the odd thrash at Jam Nights will be the Axe and Cleaver in Boston. Just like to say thank you to all the wonderful support we've had.
Tuesday 24th January 2006 Hi to everybody out there! Things are moving well and there are plenty of gigs on the horizen...just check out the gigs page. The best thing that's happened to us so far is meeting Sunny and Rik. When we left Melbourne we were in mourning for the loss of our beloved Rajiv, but now even though Rajiv is still in contact with us and supporting every move we make Rik and Sunny are our new bricks. Rik has taken over the mantel of sound engineer and Sunny has been a truely wonderful number 1 supporter. Last week we played the Chilly Willy Rally in Tuxford and it was a blast. We met so many nice people, hard to believe the response we got. This week we play at the Nags Head in Bardney and with any luck our new tour van will be ready to use for the very first time. Stay tuned for more news as it comes.
Friday 30th December 2005 We have now been in England for 3 months, our band is still going of course, rocking the English public!!!!  We have played a few gigs and have a few lined up.  The crowds are really appreciative and there is always a good turn out.  The English know how to have a good time!!!  Rock on!!!  We have had much support coming our way which is always brilliant.  Our first gig was a bikey do and wow, we played on some wicked equipment, full on!  In the time that we were waiting for our equipment to arrive from Australia we played at the Horncastle Youth Centre.  Was great of them to help us out, really appriciate it.  However, from not actually performing or playing much without our equipment, it's amazing how much you can fall behind, so much work has gone into getting ourselves up to speed and getting our name out there.  Calender TV's very own news reader 'Carolyn Hodgson' took up the challenge to become a rock chick, we had to show her how, with TV cameras and lots of laughter for 2 days it was a great sucess.  It was aired the following week to news viewers covering half of England!  We have also been in the local paper the 'Horncastle News' for the last 5 weeks in a row, wicked!!!  We played at the Old Nicks Tavern 'grand opening' night, it was electric, the next day a man was on talk back radio saying that he saw us play and he described Alexandra (drummer) just like Cosy Powell but on acid!!!  Rock on Alex!!!  We have got some awesome gigs next year, can't believe it, how people are so believing in us, it really makes you feel good.  Now, tomorrow night we have our New Year's Eve gig at Old Nicks, funky fingers on the bass, animal on the drums and Victoria, well, let's show em' what we're made of :-)
Wednesday 28th September 2005 Wow, we are leaving Australia today, entering a new journey in England with the band.  Thank you Melbourne for everything you have done for us, we will not forget you and will be back sometime in the future, hopefully touring with our band 'The Almaboobies'.  This is a new chapter, a new adventure for us, it's very exciting but challenging.  Thank you again for having us!
